Frequently asked questions
What ping do I need for online gaming?
Under 30 ms feels instant for shooters and fighting games, 30–60 ms is comfortable for most titles, 60–100 ms is playable for strategy and MMO games, and above 100 ms you will feel the delay.
Why does the region matter?
Ping is mostly distance and routing. A server on another continent adds unavoidable travel time, so always pick the region closest to you when a game lets you choose.
What is jitter and why is it worse than ping?
Jitter is the variation between consecutive pings. A stable 60 ms plays better than a 30 ms connection that swings to 200 ms, because the game cannot predict when your inputs arrive.
How can I lower my gaming ping?
Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, close background uploads, enable Smart Queue Management on your router, pick the nearest server region, and check our bufferbloat test for latency under load.
