How does the SpeedExact speed test work?
The test opens several parallel HTTP streams to a nearby edge server, measures how many bytes transfer per second in each direction, and reports the aggregate as Mbps. Latency is the fastest of several tiny requests, and jitter is the average variation between them.
Why is my result lower than my plan?
Wi-Fi loss, other devices using the line, VPNs, older routers and protocol overhead all reduce measured throughput. Test over Ethernet with other traffic paused for the closest comparison to your plan.
What is jitter and why does it matter?
Jitter is the variation in latency between packets. High jitter causes choppy calls and unstable gaming even when download speed looks fine. Under 10 ms is good; above 30 ms is noticeable.
Do you store my results?
No. Results are saved only in your browser's local storage so you can compare tests. Clearing site data removes them permanently.
Does the test use a lot of data?
A full test typically transfers between 50 MB and several hundred MB depending on your speed, because faster lines move more data in the same measurement window. Be mindful on metered mobile plans.
Which languages are supported?
English, Arabic (right-to-left), French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Estonian, switchable from the header at any time.
